On July 20th, 2017 at around 2:30 p.m., naturally while I was working all day two hours away, GG began birthing her puppies. Luckily, my wife is a nurse practitioner and was able to deliver all nine puppies herself with no issue. The ladies in our household are all rock stars! I came home around 8:00 and all the puppies were nursing on GG. It still blows my mind that our 26 lbs GG was able to successfully carry all those puppies.
We weren't expecting the puppies until the earliest that weekend, so I had not yet build GG's whelping box. It took me most of the night, but the following morning GG had a safe place to nurse her puppies, a 4' x 4' wooden box fully equipped with a heated rubber floor, and a 6' rounded edge whelping bumper.
The puppies (and GG) are eating machines, but poor GG has been up for the challenge of feeding them all. She has been eating and drinking twice as much as our two boys combined.
